Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-06-06
This service (“Livonian dictionary access”, at
https://livonian.valksor.com) is a free, public, read-only tool operated
by Valksor, a Latvia-based company within the European
Union. It is a
valksor.com
service and follows Valksor's privacy approach: no advertising, no
tracking profiles, minimal data.
1. No accounts, ads, or tracking
There are no user accounts and no logins. We do not run advertisements,
set tracking or advertising cookies, or build behavioural profiles, and
we never sell or share data for marketing. The application sets
no cookies of its own. Our network/security provider,
Cloudflare, may set an essential security cookie (e.g.
cf_clearance) and process your IP for TLS and bot
protection.
2. What we process
- Your request. The word or phrase you look up and the query parameters. On a cache miss this query is forwarded to livonian.tech (University of Latvia Livonian Institute) to fetch the result. Please do not put personal or sensitive information into queries — treat them as public dictionary lookups.
-
Your IP address. Used transiently, in memory, only
for per-IP rate limiting (anti-abuse). Behind Cloudflare we read
CF-Connecting-IP. It is not written to a database and is not used to identify or profile you. - Operational logs. The server may keep short-lived technical logs (timestamp, path, response status and timing) and aggregate metrics for reliability. These are not used to build profiles.
3. Caching
To avoid hammering the upstream dictionary, responses from livonian.tech are cached permanently. The cache holds linguistic data (dictionary entries and inflection tables), not user identities or personal data.
4. Third parties
- livonian.tech (University of Latvia Livonian Institute) — the source of the dictionary data; your query is sent there on a cache miss.
- Cloudflare — TLS termination, content delivery, and bot protection in front of the service.
We do not sell, rent, or share data with third parties for marketing.
5. Legal basis & GDPR
We operate within the EU and rely on our legitimate interest in providing and protecting the service, processing the minimum necessary. We hold little to no personal data and retain none of it long-term.
6. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, and objection. Because the service is effectively anonymous and stores no personal records, there is normally nothing to retrieve or delete — but you are welcome to contact us with any question.
7. Changes
We may update this policy; the “Last updated” date above reflects the current version. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
